We finally have some nice weather heading our way. I hope it's here to stay.
My son Tim and I did get out for some fishing yesterday. I had two strikes that I missed, just couldn't get a hook set. After that the place just died so our trip was short. It's still early, and with no boat it's just bank fishing, sure limits a guy.
I really want to check out Sharon Harris. I'm kind of leary about fishing there, but have been told that the water there is clean, with good fishing. But that Nuclear stuff, I'm still not sure if I'd eat anything from there.
Larry glad you got the bike out and starter replaced. I'd love to have another bike, but replaced my 01 F150 instead (18 months ago) and now I'm sending money to a friend of mine (also an FTE member) that bought my 79 F150 4x4 after it showed up on craigslist for the 3rd time since I sold it. Still hoping to have it here late this summer.
I hear ya! Only payment besides the house is the wife's equinox. All my old trucks are paid for, every once in awhile I'll get a itch for a new one. Then I remind myself how nice it is to not have a truck payment.
Yup, that no car payment part is SWEET!
We made it several years that way, my 01 F150 had been paid for, for several years, Shari's 08 Escape has been paid off for 3 or 4 years. Then my 01 was starting to show the age, and miles, although it was still running nice, and looked like it was just a few years old. But at almost 200k on that 4.2 V6 was burning oil, rear main leaked pretty pad, front seal, or pump was leaking in the tranny, rear differential was leaking, and on a hard rain the cab was leaking bad enough that there would be standing water on the drivers side, front and back (Extended Cab). It only booked out at being worth about $2k and I really couldn't see putting a chunk of money into it, and never get that back out. But I did get the $2k when we sold it.
But we did make it several years car payment free.
Yea my 97 shows its age a little bit, the odometer quit 4 years ago at 175xxx. But it is the 4.6 4x4, it burns a little oil, and leaks a little transmission fluid. But hey it keeps the undercarriage from rusting! Lol
We committed a few weeks back for a run for the kinston homeless shelter. Well we did that today, bout a 150 miles total on the bike. By the time we got home I was beyond soaked but it was still a good day!
