Haha yeah, by a long shot lol. My F-150 (when it was running lol, transmission went out on it too) has the dual tanks, used to drop like $150 to fill that big bahstahd up and it'd be gone in a week and a half...At similar prices the Grand Marquis filled up for about $60, drove at least the same mileage if not more before needing a refuel. When I was driving my truck I probably averaged 100 mi or so a week, now I'm averaging around 500 mi a week. Yeah, Merc cheaper to run by a long shot. lol
problem im having with the mustang is the input shaft seal let go so its dropping the fluid pretty quick.. around town the mustang mpg about matches the trucks.. but still cheaper to fill lol.. where the prices are atm would cost me about 20-30 to fill the stang where the truck is more about 50-60 for half the tank..
To be honest, I bought the Grand Marquis thinking I wouldn't really like it, but they are relatively inexpensive, common engine and parts, reliable, and get relatively good gas mileage, and as I was starting a new job that would have me commuting, I needed something with all of those qualities. Since having bought it, I have absolutely fallen in love with the thing. It's seriously in the top 2 favorites of vehicles I have owned/driven for an extended time, right up there with my 87 F-150.
I bought the mustang to have something reliable for a DD... Which it was for 11 years... lol id still say itd be if i fixed the tranny.. will have to do that one of these days lol..
The truck i bought hoping its be more reliable than my old s10 was.. that and i needed something that was 4wd and could carry my camping gear... which it hasnt been reliable thanks to the previous owners wearing it out and trading it in.. but atleast it hasnt left me on the side of the road like the s10 did...
Ah yes...Yeah, my 87 has yet to leave me on side of the road except for once or twice, and those instances were more I didn't feel like it would be smart to drive it any further lol. Heck, even when the tranny grenaded on me, I still had 1st and 2nd without much trouble, other than a bunch of racket, and later figured out had I tried for 3rd a little harder I could have used it to get home as well lol.

lol the truck beat the crap outta the rear diff on the way home when it went... i was probably about 3 miles from the house when i heard a pop after hitting a bump... hearing nothing else i figured it was a kicked up rock... well as soon as i had to slow down for a light about a mile down the road it started screaming at me... accelerating back up when it went green it screamed again.... at cruise all was quiet...
well another 2 miles later i go to pull into the neighborhood and the truck started bucking.... make the next turn onto my street... i go to turn to pull into the driveway and truck said "I QUIT!!!".. and that was just as i got the front tires on the bottom of the driveway too... it wasnt going any further... just sat there shimmying and bucking... i took my stuff inside... came outside... Locked the front hubs.. threw it in 4wd... and managed to turn the truck around.. then backed it up the driveway so the rest of the family could get dads truck out later...
next day.. called the tow truck.. had it towed to the dealer... tech said it looked like a grenade went off in that housing... R&P were toast... toothless lol... they found chunks of those in the carrier which beat the snot outta the spider gears... they had to "special order" the parts from Detroit to fix it.. $3200 and got a strong rear again... course because of my warranty i only paid $125
Hahaha dammit bobby. I ain't ever had a car with a warranty so I don't kno what that's like. Best thing I've ever done is getting a check from my comprehensive and using a quarter of what they paid me to fix the mishap myself lol

Sweet day outside, well until the rain get here that the weather guessers are talking about.
My day to redeem myself, yup, two slabs of Baby Back Ribs prepped and covered with dry rub yesterday. Going in the smoker later this morning. This time I'll have my wrist brace on, and maybe even have my son Tim take them from me.
More Physical Therapy tomorrow, that's my have way through it visit.
Hope y'all have a safe day
Starter went out on the bike Sunday, new one came in today. Time to go home and throw that bad boy in so I can get in on some of this extremely nice riding weather.
