window problems

My front windows have had issues since I got my truck. When I put them down most of the time they are slow and sometimes they stop. I figured the motor was bad. I bought a new regulator and it does the same thing as before.
Most of the time it will only go half way down and then it's a pain in the **** to get back up.
Is this a problem with the track or the piece inside the track that the window rides in or both????

If the new motor is good that's where I would start. New or rebuilt motor? Check the tracks, clean and oil as necessary.

I bought a new regulator. For the driver side and since that didn't fix the problem I didn't touch the pass side

Take the door panel off and use a ton of spray lube like in the picture below. Then take some Vaseline and a popsicle or something similar and lube up the front and rear vertical tracks where the window goes up and down. What has likely happened is that the felt in the track has rubbed off over the years and is now a slightly sticky rubber like substance. I did these steps because my truck was having the exact same problems on both sides and now they work like new. I had to use Vaseline on the passenger door twice and about 5 times on the driver door before the felt/rubber absorbed enough to allow the window to move freely.

Laugh if you feel you need to, but you probably aren't going to find a much cheaper and easier fix to your problem. Let us know how it works if you decide to give it a shot.

Ya know I'd lean away from a wet lube and use dry graphite. Comes in a little tube and you can squirt it into the channels. And your door locks while you're there. Works well and will not attract dirt that can bugger it up worse down the road.

I should do that to mine but it's so much easier to sit on the couch and write about it....

I just spayed Gunk brand silicone spary in my window channels last Saturday. Only need to spray from top to bottom on the sides.

I switched my WD-40 flip down straw over to the silicone.

Roll up and down 4-5 times and it should work much better.
