sudden loss of throttle

Hello everyone a buddy of mine has a 03 f350 with the 7.3 190k and as he is driving down the road he loses throttle response, but if he releases the pedal back.to idle position then presses it again it's fine and has full throttle controll, some days it's really bad and then there's tomes where it will.go.a few days without issue....I'm thinking possible bad ivs or tps. ...any other thoughts? Thanks

Clean the throttle pedal assy with compressed air. There is a IVS and the TPS. Dust and gunk could be the cause. If it keeps doing this, you may need a pedal assy. Try cleaning it first though.

had the same problem with my 02 7 years ago. put a pedal out of a parts truck in and all was good. three days later i got a recall notice from for for defective pedal assembly, so i put the old one back in and took it to ford for the recall.

ok great thanks everyone ill let him know.....he was hoping to avoid replacing the pedal cause he has the adjustable one and supposedly its like 800 for it....although i would think that the tps is separate from the whole assembly
