I can't start my 77 f150 in any gear and it hasn't had reverse lighto for about a year, and I replaced anything to do with ignition so I think my nuetral safety switch is bad. Question is how do I get to it, I know being a 77 it's inside the steering column.
Actually, it's not inside the steering column, it's on top of the column, near the firewall.
There is a small set of holes you place a pin in to align the switch.
Loosen the two screws that hold the switch to the column, place the gearshift in neutral and move the switch until the holes align and you can insert the alignment pin (piece of wire).
Here is a link to a thread of mine where I had a similar problem (and with which "mikeo0o0o0" jumped in and helped with his pics) ....
I never had my column all the way out so I thought the tab was a "bad break", but so easy to fix really. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...witch-tab.html
Tbear83 ito not letting me open that link and so it's on the outside of the steering column down under the dash? And I know mines in the column because I thought i seen the plug end coming out of the steering column
Tbear83 ito not letting me open that link ... etc ...
It's fixed ..... sorry 'bout that.

Depends on whether you can get into the floor on your back, it might help to remove the cover under the column at dash, remove two bolts and ease column down some. I hooked a coat hanger across a few inches under it to limit drop and it helped.

Any chance someone wired around a fuse or wrapped one in foil?
Thanks for the help it's fixed but still no reverse lights and I checked the fuses and someone does have a wire just running into a fuse but it has nothing to do with the switch
