Finally got a chance to check the line routing.....it is where it should be. Will start checking for other things.......temp of the truck runs about 193 degrees so I can pretty much rule out the radiator.
Get two containers and a helper. Remove the line where it connects to the REAR of the transmission and aim the line into the first bucket.
Have your helper start the truck. Leave it at idle speed in park. Once the flow is steady (should only be a couple seconds) move the line to the second container FOR EXACTLY 15 SECONDS then move it back to the first container and shut the engine off.
If there is at least a quart in the second container it passes. If fluid is spraying out of the trans where you removed the line it fails the test.
If it fails there are several possibilities. The bypass valve in the tube connecting the front and rear lines on the side of the trans could have failed open, or the spring could have weakend. You can get a rebuild kit for a few bucks.
You could also have a restricted line or cooler, or a worn pump.
