So, what model is this Garrett? What are you planning on for Fueling this,... Beast.
Garrett GT3076R 56mm turbo with a 0.82 A/R housing. Going small for quick spool. Won't give details on the fuel system yet but expect something unique.
As I have stated in other threads, Trozie you are doing great things, and the attention to detail will take you far. I can't wait to see how this project turns out
Cylinder head was dropped off at the machine shop yesterday. I also contacted Crower into a custom camshaft. Should be ground and shipped out within a week.
I got my custom camshaft in today with a nice $85 UPS fee. I remember specifically asking Crower to use Fedex, but there's nothing I can do about that now. I've attached the cam card for anyone wondering.
I've been back and forth at the machine shop multiple times now since I've been back. I was supposed to get the head the day before I left but one of the seats looked a little odd to him so he wanted to get it pressure tested while I was in Vegas. No problem from me. I'd rather find out now than later if the seat is going to hold compression or not. Anyway, I ended up talking to a guy today who I've spoken to online through various websites already before. I found out that he actually works at a neighbouring machine shop and that he himself had just finished surfacing my head that my guy had outsourced the job to and that my head had just now been returned. (For anyone wondering, the guy I'm dealing with is more of an engine builder than a specialty machinist, so there are a couple things that he outsources to to this shop. This second shop does have a good reputation around town but they are expensive which is why I didn't task them with my build.) So I go down there to my guy's shop to check up on him.
Here it is in all its glory. I have always loved the look of a freshly surfaced head or block. It's so pretty to look at.
We also had a discussion about what I was going to do about my valvetrain, as my exhaust valves are 0.101" longer than the intakes. I gave him a seal, a spring, and a retainer and we played around for a bit. He's going to keep the head for now as the guides will need a bit of machining for the seals to fit, and he's also going to play around a bit with shims and keepers to see what he can do about making the springs fit correctly. He says I should be able to take it home this afternoon. I'll update if that is the case.
Final machining was all finished up this morning. Picked it up and gave the man his money. I then measured out the stud threads and bought some small block Chev studs. My valvetrain is very Bowtie-like.

Looks like a good build you've got going on here. I'm getting ready to build up a motor for my 66 shorty and am going with a 300. It's nice to see another person from bc on here playing with these old trucks seems like we're few and far between.
