Trans. cooler for a 2003?

I just got a 2003 7.3 A/T PSD SRW. Reading about transmission coolers. Does this truck have the cooler built inside of radiator? If does, does it need to be upgraded? Upgrade to what? Will be towing! My '99 has the little cooler in front of radiator.

You truck has a cooler in the radiator. It's fine, it does not need upgrading. It also has a small cooler in front of the radiator. That one needs to be replaced by a cooler from a 6.0L truck.

Thanks Mark! I did put the next larger 6.0 cooler in my '99 F350. It now has one million plus miles(un-touched). My '99 F250 is still stock(870000 miles, un-touched). Need to get to work on the 2003 sounds like.

That's amazing to have that kind of miles on two trucks, esp. in the rust belt! How in the world do you keep the rust at bay?? Years ago, I bought a 4yo Datsun truck from a guy from Chicago, sight unseen in an emergency situation. That poor truck was swiss cheesed. Drove it for a coupla' years and sold it for the motor.

The F350 is still looking good. Bed rails are showing rust. The F250 is getting pretty well beat up with bruises(wife's) and rust(oil pan, bed rail etc.) F250 have never had the valve covers off, tranny, rear end, all untouched!
