Topeka is about 7 hours for me with no trailer, give or take a hair. North Texas is around 12-13 hours empty (800 ish miles).

All of this sounds doable to me. We'll be there over the holidays and then possibly early Spring. Let's start making plans!!!!!

If I came with the trailer it would have 2. Just as well have it loaded. Gotta get the other one I'd want to bring running again this winter. Dad's had a broken block upon teardown. I call it dad's since we put him in to drive after 20+ years off just watching me, it used to be my ex-brother-in-law's car I built with a lot of my old parts and kept.

Dad's is going to be a 390 again next year. It runs high 10's. I'm planning on building an aluminum block 427 stroked to 482 shortblock as soon as I can for that car. Building a 10.0 time zone car. I could make it go faster but there are a lot less rules if you stay out of the 9's, and a lot less hot safety equipment to put on. I'm actually going to park my car in a year or so and drive that one. Mine needs a new block, rods, pistons, etc next rebuild besides the chassis is pretty worn out. It's had a good 35 years of racing life. As of now I'm planning on putting the 427 block I have now in that with the toploader 4 speed we have and put that back on the street to play with. That's gonna be awhile though.

My plans seem to change too often so you never know. I have always been an FE guy at heart though so that is another reason I want to build a 427, I don't forsee that plan changing. I grew up on them motors, I'd be running around Dad's friends shop at 6 years old and up, cleaning parts, etc. If I can swing it this winter the 482 will be in Dad's car next year. The block itself is about 4k though so I don't know if that will happen or not this soon.

I may load up mu wife's 1989 Volvo TURBO 740 Wagon. You fellas will seriously be impressed. You should here that 4 cyl turbo whistle!

But seriously, I hope we could make somn like this happen. It's a long drive for me, but with family in the DFW area, it would make sense. We could hit the gathering on the way back home or while we were there.

I agree. Some kind of centralized event would be great!
