Are you only draining the pan or flushing the system? There is a couple of How to Flush's in the tech section by Mark K. Also 1975Stroppebaja has a few more pictures. What fluid are you using? Specifically brand?
No flushes for me. I was going to drop the pan and change the filter.

When I drop the pan, I always drain the TC. This does not work with my Town Cars starting in 2003. The ******s at Ford delete the TC drain plug. So I have my mechanic drain and fill through the dipstick tube every 2nd or 3rd oil change. When the pan is dropped, the fluid is like new.
