Deep or shallow pan?

No flushes for me. I was going to drop the pan and change the filter.

Dropping the pan is a bad idea, it only gets a third of the oil. Just DRAIN the pan and drain the torque converter. I did a How-to with pics on it. You will need 17 quarts of Mercon-V

When I drop the pan, I always drain the TC. This does not work with my Town Cars starting in 2003. The ******s at Ford delete the TC drain plug. So I have my mechanic drain and fill through the dipstick tube every 2nd or 3rd oil change. When the pan is dropped, the fluid is like new.

Don't drop the pan. Needless work.
Just use Mark's tried and true trans flush method here Changing ATF Fluid in a E4OD and 4R100 transmission | Ford Trucks and you'll be golden.
The step-by-step tutorial Mark put together is foolproof, and will easily (and in a correct manner) flush out the old and replace with the new.
