08 Trans pan update

I think the next update/mod I want to do is updating to the 08 pan and filter for my transmission pan... Since most of the information I find is old with little or no follow up, I would like to know:

Is the pan and filter REALLY just a bolt-on update?

Is there any reliability or starvation problem afterwards?

Would that be preferable to one of the AM solutions such as the one at Dieselsite?

Does this generally increase reliability through better filtration, or decrease it through restricted flow???

Thanks!

Thank you Mark, you were the exact person I was hoping for a response from. Does anyone have a pre-compiled list of the parts needed?

You need a pan and a filter. Use the gasket that is there now.

I would say the 08 updated pan is just as good as the aftermarket ones out there, especially when you compare the cost.

Interesting. I came in late to the show. I hadn't heard of reliability issues of the 5R110's. What's the difference in the 07-vs-08 pan design and filter?

There really aren't any reliability issues, it is just a longevity improvement to switch, because there is a true 100% filtration system in the 08+.

To add to what Chewed said: Our's just has a screen on the oil pick up, versus an actual filter as well as the newer pan holds an additional qt.

Chewed: how about we buy 2 sets and split the shipping -- I'm only 20 or so miles from you...

I am down for that. I just found out I will be leaving this job in CO to a job in SoCal, but if we could ship to your place, then I can pick it up on Thursday. I will look at prices and PM you.

Suweet! I think when I was looking it was Tousley (not sure their name now) that had the best prices.

I might have another friend with an '04 that would be interested. Are you thinking of getting more than one filter?

I guess we should take the rest of this PM....

I didn't check around much on prices as Tousley beat everyone pretty much when I did my bullet-proof "lite".

Here's the part no's:
8C3Z-7A194-B (Pan)
8C3Z-7A098-D (Filter)

Total price w/o shipping is right at $93...
