The Torqshift doesn't run Mercon V fluid Mark. If not its my mistake he is using it. I thought they used the same fluid as the 4r100 transmission dose. In the MSDS sheet by shaeffer it is approved for this. And my sons truck has the full bullet prove set up on it with head studs and remote oil cooler, sorry for not saying that earier.

Mark didn't say Mercon V and they do NOT use the same fluid as a 4r100. Just because it's a John Wood built transmission doesn't mean JW built the solenoids which are a big reason for the SP/LV fluid.
Boy did I screw this up. I recommended this to my son when he was bullet proofing his rig.I just found Shaeffers for Ford Mercon SP applications: While not a direct Substitute for Ford Mercon SP fluid all-trans supreme has been successfully used in heavily or severely loaded applications where a higher film strength product is needed to protect the trans from wear. Its been in for a couple years so I'll have to have him change it and send out to Blackstone for a test. I know it runs good other words, and hold back good going down cajon pass in tow mod. And always runs cool, like 160 degree's he says. I would of thought Ford would of caught it when we supplied it to put it in when he had his other things done. It's my fault but d--. I feel really bad now.
Shaeffer also says not recommended for use in Ford Mercon LV applications!
Okay so what's a good synthetic oil for are transmissions. I like synthetic because it stays cool and returns to cool after climbing long grades quickly. I hope I didn't blow it for him.
I'd just stick with Mercon SP. I have tons of miles with weights of 16k to 30k and the temp doesn't come up even close enough to be alarming. I live in Southern Oregon and we don't have any flat roads so the truck is always working.
