ok, getting my rig set up to pull a trailer for work, stock 2.9 with the fm-146. getting ready to pull and drop exploder axles in it front and rear. question is, should i keep the gearing in the ex axles, 3.73 or should i drop some 4.10 gears in it???

You want opinions and have zero answers .......... unbelievable!

Mine is........ go 4.10's if there's much weight to the trailer. You probably won't tell much difference in mpg unless you're going interstate speeds.

What size tires? My 89 loved 4.11's and 30" tires.

3.73s are OK........But 4.10s will give it a little better grunt, hi way RPMs should not be too bad, besides the 2.9 likes to spin pretty high.

running 29 inch tires, i have an expolorer rear end im dropping in for the beefiness, had to swap rear ends once already due to chipped broken teeth in the ring gear on the stock 7.5 crap. the 4.10 sounds like a better deal with pulling a trailer, specially getting it out of the hole at red lights
