Goood evening, Virginia.

Training with the VFD tonight. Sad when the department has 50+ members and only 7 show up for training. Regardless...

The city had a maze set up in the burn building for recruit school. Good thing I'm thin; had to fit through some tight spaces in full PPE and SCBA.

That looks like a lot of fun!

Are you going to try some of those FF competitions where they have to run up stairs and such?

Honestly, crawling through some of the tunnels, where I thought I was going to get stuck halfway through, was extremely stressful. The building was dark (no flashlights either) and the mask I was wearing isn't fitted for me, so it fogged up. The only thing I could see was the glow ring on the airpack in front of me.

My first time in SCBA and I'm all out crawling through a maze in a burn building. I'm hoping we'll do things like this more like every few months.

If love to do one of those! There is going to be a 911 memorial stairclimb downtown I'm September that I'm planning on doing. 110 floors in full PPE and SCBA (minus the mask, but still 45lbs) .

Imagine if you were really big!

Training will lead to more confidence and less stress. It will just take more time.
