Man what a great thread! I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures and appreciate the experience! Its hard for me to read full thread but you captivated me. These lower Alabama woods are a totally different sight.
On the idle problems, I would pull the plugs and look for any signs of discoloration, wetness with fuel or coverage of oil.. A Carb overhaul can make that a completely different truck.. (Its likely a spark or fuel issue)
Also, Congrats on the 7.3.. You have purchased one of the best ford drivetrains ever built (IMO) That baby will run forever with the right maintenance, my 99 dually has been a dream!
Well, Winter returned... We have gotten about 2' since yesterday and it's still coming down. Needed it bad, but it's been one heck of a transition. I think my ford loves the snow, because it started running really strong as soon as the weather came in. It's been pushing some weight with no complaints at all. I am very pleased. Still need to figure out what happened though. It does an amazing job and has been able to get itself out of a lot of tricky situations. Anyway, more dent side snow pics for your viewing pleasure. enjoy!
Awesome thread. . sure has came along way from the dodge. . greats pics too.
2questions. How do you have all the time for this camping? Lol
And are you missing the drivers side window?it looks down no matter what weather you're in

Camping is one of my favorite things, so I go every time I can. Anything to be in the mountains. I also don't watch T.V.
I still have the window, but it is usually down no matter what. I have had a few 400 miles winter trips this year with all of the windows down and the heat blasting. I love my mountain air I guess

I do that. It has nothing to do with liking the air though. I love the sound of my side exit glasspacks and the echo's off buildings or under bridges. And there was the occasional car alarm

I used to do that when I drove my yellow 78 but that was because the heater gets so hot and it only seemed to have two settings, cold air and blast you out of the cab hot.
I realize that I am only echoing what many have already said, but WOW! What a great thread. It makes me miss my old '76. Thank you so much for allowing us to share in your adventure. Awesome awesome photography. Keep up the good work!
Well, I decided to solve that window down problem for the end plowing season. In those big storms, my neck was killing me because where I am plowing I need to see the lowest edge of the plow in most areas. I also added a Brodie **** and a new seat cover. But now it's spring and Monday was spectacular. I sat out on the back 40 for my whole day off. It was awesome! Here are some more pictures for you guys!
So this storm started on February 22 and we got about 3 ft of extremely saturated snow, which is going to make everything nice and green!
This was Monday March 18. Pretty amazing how fast it all melted! This was one of my favorite days off ever! Just sat out there and looked at the mountains!
