The M68 is the same as the Ford F3 of the same vintage , it's a actually a 3/4 ton . They were only available with single wheels on the rear and only in 8bolt on 6.5 inch centres .You can get parts from NAPA but don't ask for Mercury M68 parts instead ask for Ford F3 parts . Front brake parts are no problem the rear brakes have 14" drums that are not reproduced but you can get the shoes relined at a brake and clutch shop . 95ish Dodge3/4 ton or 1 ton 17" rims will work .
Are the rear fenders the same on the half ton throughout one ton models?
No. On the 48-52 trucks, half ton (F-1) fenders are different from the F2/3 fenders. The half ton box is smaller so the fenders are wider than the bigger trucks. Wheel opening is different, too.
I hope someone rescued this one from the elements! Are the rear fenders the same on the half ton throughout one ton models?
I am going to go get the 53 for sure.It turns over and I could use the dump box for some "home work".I am going to ask about the other,it is seized but totally complete except for the tailgate.
To add to the fender question, the Mercury stuff has the park light on the fender and is different than the Ford trucks.
Yes Olweldingrig that is a nice looking grill. I see it has a ford hood on it. The Mercury name plate above the grill looks okay too. To bad the fender lights are missing and that the stainless is beat up. Something else I noticed is that the fenders are not black. Looks like the whole truck is faded Yosemite green. Someone stated on here one time that ALL Canadian trucks were made with black fenders Maybe not ALL. Greg M-47
But you were able to special order different colours. I have a vin plate off a 1948 M-68 where it normally showed a code for the paint colour it is stamped SPECIAL. Off the dozen or so trucks I've seen that I know that weren't repainted had black fenders.

Just as a point of interest while on the subject, my 52 M1 came from the factory in red-oxide primer for the main body and interior, but the fenders and grille were originally black. Code 88.

Actually the park lights are stashed somewhere along with the plastic delete.(don't give your 10 yr old tools lol) If it wasn't nailed down I grabbed it.The nuts are probably stripped or I couldn't figure out how to take the merc emblem off the front. And the motor is at dad's, it had a dead hole.We tried to put it in a 50 Tudor. A real good parts truck now I am thinking.
