Rust Free Cab

Greetings all!

What would one expect to pay for a 78-79 rust free cab? It's just the cab, completely stripped and painted gloss black. It looks to be in near-mint condition.

Thanks!

Kevin K.

it depends where you are and your region. In the snowy and salty areas it would be worth more than in a region that is sunny and less saltiny like California.

It's in Wisconsin. Just about the worst place for salty roads.

It all depends on how you look at it. In the end of course it's worth what you are willing to pay and what the owner thinks he should get.

I'm a cheap bugger, so I'd look at it something like this.. you could probably get a truck from calif or some place for 1k that was rust free. Then there'd be some cost in getting it back, like maybe $500 or something, so it's 1500 for the truck. The cab is maybe 1/4 of the cost in the truck so maybe $300-$500? Maybe an odd way to look at it but that's probly what I'd think. Then I'd offer him $200 for it . Then it all becomes how badly you want it when you start bartering.

Thanks. That's how I'd see it, too. I'm just lookin for a ballpark figure. I'd hate to sell it for $50 and have the guy turn around and sell it for $500. On the other hand, I don't want to ask $500 if it's only worth $50. Not looking to make a mint, but don't want to get screwed either.

I priced them a little while ago here in the Toronto are, so CDN$$.
$1000, w/doors $1400. Exchange is running about 1.20 right now so that would put the value at around $800US, which I think you could get in the salt belt considering its got a fresh coat of paint and if the buyer likes black.

hearing things like that make me sick. i wish people would think before they realized what they're destroying.

(as i look over at a picture of my daily driver that is waiting to be restored and be free of rust and bondo)
