Trouble starting our 2008 escape after she has been sitting for atleast 4-5 hours (or more) We can get it going usually but we have to attempt several times before it 'catches'. After running and turning off, it starts no problem. Have replaced mas and didn't help. No 'check engine soon light' so just trying to narrow down the problem. Have replaced the fuel filter and all the spark plugs. Help please, love my escape but not when it doesn't start!!

Have the issue fixed, we needed to replace the coolant temperature sensor. Easy fix really for a big problem!! And no we didn't have any coolant leaks. The sensor was sending the wrong info to the PCM so in turn was sending the wrong gas mixture! Hope this will help anyone with the same issue!!
I am having a similar problem with my 2009 Escape with a 3.0L, the hotter the ambient temperature is the longer it cranks to start. I can let the engine sit idle for 30 minutes or let it sit for a few hours in the high heat and it cranks for what seams minutes before starting.

It had a CT sensor? The 2009MY doesn't have a CT sensor but uses a CHT(cylinder head temperature) sensor.

Have you had your dealership check this out, GRNMSTR? How many miles are on your Escape?

No, I asked them about it the last time it was in and they said they couldn't duplicate the problem. And that was when it was still under warranty. Now they want a small fortune just to diagnose the problem. I have had a number of issues that they said the warranty did not cover also, like the drivers side mirror not working (heater and movement) which I replaced myself. The Escape now has 129k miles on it.
