I know how that is Tim. I need to pull a wheel in the morning if the ground is dry enough and look at a caliper. I think one of the guide pins is sticking. Smelled a tiny bit of odor from the right front when I got to work today. But the water from where I park could have washed the caliper grease off.
That it would Tim. But I have a good floor jack and jack stands. Just a matter of putting it up long enough to check it out. Could be nothing at all. But better to be safe then have an issue down the road. If anything I can always put some more caliper grease on it while I have the wheel off.
I think I did Tim. Could also be some mud that got in there cooking off. Will know more once I get the wheel off. Pedal felt great all the way to work.
Nothing at all Tim. Felt fine on the way into work. Was just a light odor as I was pulling into the parking lot. Felt some heat but that could have been from the drive into the office today. But Better to pull the wheel and make sure nothing is going on then not check and have it lock up on me.
Could also be that the pin is moving but is a bit sluggish if the caliper lube has been washed away. Push comes to shove order up a hardware kit and replace the pads on each side to be safe if needed.
Thats what I'm thinking it is Tim. I figure I caught it before it becomes a bigger issue. And when it comes to brakes I always err on the side of safety.
I always like to keep my truck running good Tim. When I first smelled it I thought it could have been a clutch from someone nearby but figured let me check to be safe. I know when I had replaced the pads back in August the pins on the passenger side front were a bit sluggish. They had most of the lube washed off because of where I park at. Figure caliper grease is cheap. Having to replace a caliper or getting into a wreck is not.
