was productive again lol.. since i got the truck ive been really curious on how "healthy" the EGR cooler is... from what everyones told me if i pulled the EGR valve and it looked steam cleaned that the EGR cooler was leaking.. unsure of the seals i bought the reseal kit just in case... turns out i needed it..
After a couple months of having the truck i discovered the EGR valve was loose... and had tightened it up... I just figured the PO had it off and never tightened it down..
its been dirty for sure...
im surprised if it was even able to operate...
gave it a bath in purple power and brake parts cleaner.. came out nice...
discovered i was missing a seal too.. should have been a lead like gasket near the top...
didnt find it anywhere... suspect it blew off under boost while the thing was loose...
cleaned the EGR port up with BPC and Carb cleaner.. (yes i know were not supposed to because its bad for a diesel due to it being more explosive for a gas engine than a diesel... )
but sure came out pretty...
someday i hope to soak that intake and get the insides cleaned out better too... im sure it needs it...
and how i cleaned out the EGR cooler and intake of the "explosive" gasses lol.. was fun hearing it go FFFFWWWUUmmpp... POW!!!! lol did it 3 separate times over the course of an hr before i reinstalled the EGR valve and cranking it up... ran great.. wonder if itll giddy up any better next time i floor it... suspect some of the boost was still escaping..
