I'm not lazy either, I just don't want to break my nails! Just kidding.

Hey guys, is it ok to pour the fuel back in my tank? My uncle just tossed it on the ground.

Obviously if there is any water or dirt in it I won't but what's the best way to get rid of it? Put it in the garbage?
Fire starter, weed killer, tree killer and penetrating oil among other things..

Early on in this thread, I posted about my 78 year old neighbor who has a 6.7L and finds it difficult to climb under his truck (two wheel drive with running boards). He has a host of medical issues that he doesn't "share". He's a proud man and only retired 3 years ago. The only complaint he has was the diesel running down his arm.

He tows a large 5th wheel (buying a Prius is not an option).
He now chooses to drain "once in awhile". He's not a lazy American.
Well I don't like crawling around on the ground neither, but I accept it as part of the price I pay for driving a 6.7 just like I accept getting down on my knees at the dump station to open the galley tank on my trailer. Both of which would be un necessary if the manufacturers had put a little more though and $5 into the design.

I'll bet your neighbor has to do the same thing for his 5'er.

A hint for him on the 2WD.. I also have one and I use the leveling blocks from my trailer and drive the front wheels up on them to be able to easily reach the drain on the filter. And to help me get back to my feet I have a small stool that I put in reach..

BTW I don't consider my physical aches and pains as issues... I look at them as the price I paid for all the fun I had as a youngster..

DFCM Draining Tool

The question of what to do with the fuel after it's been drained has come up by Karen and maybe earlier. I dump it back in after two or three days of allowing anything in it to settle out. I don't like the idea of dumping it on the ground for environmental reasons (works it's way down to the water table) and lighting a fire with it would be OK but I won't cook on that fire if diesel was used to light it. Way too many nasty chemicals in it to risk ingesting. So far my monthly checks have been clean so it goes back in. Clean Mason jar and clean dedicated funnel so I see no reason not to put it back. I haven't had to yet, but if the fuel was contaminated, I would dump it in my used oil drum for recycling. If someone has a reason not to dump it back in the tank, I'd like to hear it. Maybe I'm doing something I shouldn't be doing.

On a different note, it's been mentioned how hard it is to turn the drain ****. I agree it's hard. I also didn't like messing up the **** with pliers. I thought you guys might like to see the tool I made from plastic rod and stainless steel spring pins. Works great because I can grip it with my whole hand and there's no dribbling as long as I don't open the valve to far.

Just remove the water sensor.........Then you can never have Water in the Fuel light. Therefore, you can never have water in the fuel.........

Sure.....I'm from the government, trust me on this one.

I'll have to download the MP3 version of that. The copy I have is still on cassette, so maybe then I can get the auto drain!

A Deer hit it the parking lot.........That must of been difficult.

Now I know why I needed to replace the OEM Bumper with the Bumper/grill guard system.
