So I sold my 96 CCSB before I went to Afghanistan. I got home and picked up a 99 CCSB with only 91K on it for dirt cheap! An old lady owned it. I got a 5" diamond eye exhaust for next to nothing so I got it. A little loud for my choice but too late now. I put the Tymar intake on it and ordered a PHP Hydra chip for it. Before you guys beat me up I did buy an Edge CTS Insight to keep an eye on things.
I put all of the programs on the chip today and tried to put it in...... I have cleaned the terminals on the PCM almost to the point of them all being copper colored. I still cant get the truck to start with the chip in. Any suggestions?? This thing is a dog with its 3.73's compared to my old one with the 4.10's! I put a PHP chip in the old truck and it was a race car!
I really want this thing to run with the new chip. I know you guys know more about these things than me so pleas help. I want this pig to run like a rapped date!!!
Thanks.
I was careful and don't think I took off too much material. The first time I put it in I don't think it made contact at all because the truck fired right up but the PHP display wasn't illuminated. I cleaned it a little better and put it back in. The display lights up now but, no start.
I put the wire for my DP in backwards on my first try (like an idiot) even with the tab on the plug. It was a no start and I took it all back apart before realizing my misstep.
I looked at mine real close after cleaning, and I tinned the copper traces as a precaution. After tinning, I used solder wick to remove all excess solder, and it leaves a clean tin.
That's a great photo. I checked the connector, it is connected properly. I ended up taking it back out so that the truck will at least run. I hooked the chip back up to the computer and double checked that I had used the right PCM code. Yep. I don't know. I will have to call PHP tomorrow and get some help.
