Superchip... No Thanks...

Well I could not wait to get my programmer, got it tuesday, took it out friday!! Maybe my truck is different but it just didn't seem worth the $$$. The throttle responce was nice and did have a little more pep but I was not overly impressed. I know alot of people here have them and love them. I tried the 70 and 90 settings and decided I was done. The truck did seem alot louder, more clatter than normal. Anyway I'm not by any means ******* the chip I would just like to know if anyone else had the same expirence and decided it wasn't worth it.

something may be wrong, i dont know much about the superchip system itself, but my truck with the chip in is much more powerful then without. i had to bring it in for some warrenty work(cps and ebpv) so i pulled the chip. when i was driving it home it felt like i had my boat hooked on. i couldn't weight to get the chip back in. i also did an exhaust at the same time but that shouldn't make that much differance.

I'm guessin your contacts arn't too bueno. With my chip it is like night and day... you should be amazed with the results.. have you tried cleaning the ports again to make sure it is making good contact?

Haven't seen it stated yet...
but sounds like you have the 7.3L diesel and the Superchips 1705 programmer ??? Is that right ?

If so, I'd suggest you try reinstalling the program and try it again...
it makes a good truck MUCH better...
better power, better shift points...

I even resold mine to a West Texas gentlemen for his wifes Excursion and he thanked me profusely, even while asking how to tune it down since his wife had developed a "lead-foot"

I dont know much about this paticular chip but I run the Diablo Super Chip in a 01 350 Dually 4x4 and it works great. It has head slinging power and gets from 20.0 to 21.5 mpg. The worst mpg I have gotten is 19.5. I don't have to take it out to take it to the dealer either.

It doesn't say so in your sig, so I'll ask. Do you have an aftermarket exhaust and intake? If not, you won't see near the performance.

It is the 1705 and it's the only mod to date. I tried it again this morning on the way home from work. There is a difference in power and take off. It just seems the engine is really pinging alot worse and it's really loud. Inside the cab you can't hear yourself think. When I take it back out it's back to normal. I won't fib and say I didn't see a difference, but to me I didn't see it worth almost $400. Maybe I'm just an oddball. I'm glad alot of other people have had great sucess with it. A couple co-workers have the same set up, that's where I got the idea, and they could not live without it.

I would say that there is something wrong with your'se and I would say to NOT run the programmer again, send it back and have them send you another one! The "engine" will be slightly louder, probally not even noticable, the programmer does give the engine a bit more timing with fuel, try it again, you should be happy, i'm guessing you have the 60hp tuner? I have ridden in a few trucks with the 60hp programmer and there was a noticable differnce in power and mpg, both very good!!!

Before you run any kind of chip or programmer you should definately have gauges. Your exhaust temps will also climb real quick if you don't have a higher flowing air intake and 4" exhaust. I would not continue to run the programmer until you have a pyro.

Are you using Super Unleaded? I saw your comment about pinging and I know everyone says you have to use 92 or better or else you'll get serious pinging and obviously poor performance.
