That's why I opened up a fleet card with Shell. I have to input mileage at the pump each time. Hard to dispute when their own CC statements have all the info on it.
Good point but still its really the honor system. You enter the mileage you decide to enter. What I would like to see and I dont remember a post on this forum for it yet is wether there has been a station that has been found responsible for the bad fuel and has taken the financial responsibility to repair vehicle.Im talking about our trucks specifically since its 10k or more to fix.
Ive seen a few posts here where owners ins company paid for it but not the fuel station.
Maybe the ins comp then goes after the fuel station? Idk

I imagine the fuel stations would fight tooth and nail to avoid paying a claim for bad fuel up to and including blaming the customer somehow. To pay out, even once, would, in the minds of their lawyers at least, open the flood gates to more claims once the president is set and they have admitted they sold bad fuel.
I also keep records and receipts for the insurance company. I did check with my agent who called the company (Erie Insurance). They told me they will pay if the diagnosis from Ford is "contaminated fuel". They would appreciate records so I assume that means they will go after the fuel station and/or distributer in the event of a claim.

That's not how it works, bad fuel happens from time to time and fuel stations have insurance for just that reason. Less than a year ago a former coworker of mine got a bad tank of gasoline in his Pontiac. He contacted BP who told him to take it to a shop of his choice and have them fax them an invoice; they had a known batch of bad fuel. They immediately paid the shop to drain the tank, dispose of the bad gas, and flush the fuel system. No damage was found, and so that was that. A week later he got a $50 BP gas card in the mail.
The procedure for a bad fuel claim typically involves the immediate testing of fuel in the tanks. If contamination is found the insurance company breaks out the checkbook and takes care of it. Of course if no contamination is found grab your receipts and laywer and prepare for battle.

I stand corrected! Here's hoping non of us ever have to make use of the knowledge!!
Update!! Well truck been at shop for 2 weeks, insurance covering cost to fix it. Shop called to day and said all parts to replace the fuel system on these trucks are on nation wide back order from Ford. will not be available until summer maybe. He did say he managed to find the parts at a dealership and they are making him pay a 15% premium just to get them. He said issue with the fuel systems was a big issue right now nation wide. Imagine that. well hopefully he said he could have parts next week and have me going. Guess the only good thing is i work offshore so only need my truck every 3 weeks.
Keven, You can get a 'oil' sample bottle full of the fuel and send it to any lab that does oil sample tests and they can send you the continents (for a price). Blackstone is where I send my engine oil samples to. The company I work for offshore uses a lab in New Orleans to test the oil and diesel samples.
I still have the fuel so I may send some to them. But yet don't it seem strange the parts are on back order from ford and just because its not on this forum don't mean there are not alot of people out there with this problem.
Could be , not really much I can do except wait. I would think some of the parts you could by from other places such as the high pressure pump and the injectors. The part that gets me is the shop is having to pay extra for already overpriced ford parts just to get them.

You could absolutely be right but I still think there would be more on not just this forum others as well.
I just believe it must be another problem for the backorder and not fuel systems being replaced at an alarming rate.
Your absolutely right about the parts for the fuel components. They are on a nationwide back order right now. I broke one of my injectors doing the dpf delete and my dealer couldn't get any of the other dealerships to even sell them any even at the higher mark up. I did order through White Bear Lake Ford(Tousley Ford) and he was able to find me one and I had it overnighted. Should be here tomorrow and I will have my truck tomorrow night. The time that the dealer would have to wait would be 3-4 weeks if they ordered through Ford......
My DEF pump is shot apparently according to the ford dealer up here.. I have to wait 3-6 weeks for a simple pump. The EGR cooler had to be replaced a few weeks ago as well, but they had one of those ??
They do keep a cache of parts but the warranty part doesn't come into play. Most of the time when they warranty an item they order the part and send the broke one to Ford.
