Yeah my 10 was about 2 feet of the first cat, then it took a 90 each way and out in front of the rear tires on each side. Actually wasn't TOO loud, but i liked it.
Plus after I crashed the truck and started it up after 4 1/2 months of down time.. it sounded like Nascar! Oh the good ole days
Noise is fun once in awhile. I've often thought those electric cut outs would be cool right off the headers, but I've heard they leak unless you get the real expensive ones. Straight headers at the flip of a switch
I don't have a lot of progress pics this week. Fixed the leaky brake line flare so it should bleed fairly quick now that there's fluid to all 4 corners. I got the inside of the driver's side fender painted white and my throttle linkage hooked up. I'll get some pics of it, I used the braided stainless Lokar. It worked really nicely. Also went to a local yard and pulled a good plastic inner fender out. Took some pics while I was there.
This one is enough to bring tears. It's a '79 XLT Free Wheeler with a 351M, C6 and 205 case. Not a very common sight anymore. It's really rotten but there are a bunch of good parts left on it. It's too bad that 80s Camaro is on top of it, makes things hard to get at... I'm working on getting the owner of the yard to take that thing off of it so I can scavenge the case and shafts for my '85.
This old F100 has been there a couple of years now. Looks to be about a '65-'66. I think it used to sit behind a shed outside of town for years. Last plated December '78
That free wheeler would be nice to pick up and use as another project if I had the room.
I know exactly what you mean about the room. It's been there a few years now, it was rough when it came in but I'm told it could have been saved easily enough. To bring it back now would be an awful lot of reconstruction haha. Bottom 4-6 inches are pretty well gone. Lots of daylight through the floors. Nothing is impossible though!
Well I got the leaf spring bracket changed out. What a treat that was. Then bolted up the hitch and then finally the fuel tank. It's a nightmare trying to find a sending unit for a 25 OR 33 gallon tank in Canada by the way. All that's left now is run my fuel lines and wire the fuel pump. I'm confident it'll be making some noise by next weekend. Can't wait to see what it's like to drive a Bronco for the first time!
We are keeping our fingers crossed, so let us know soonest.
Will do! I've also been saving up anything I can to get a new set of tires, and I'm getting pretty close. I'm thinking 35x12.5-15 BFG Mud Terrains. Has anybody had experience with these? I've heard they wear well and last longer than others.
If you plan on driving it on the street very often, I would get All Terrains, I've heard that the Mud Terrains have a rough ride, and wear much faster on the street. I don't know how well they are in the mud.

A buddy of mine has them on his truck. Seems to like them pretty good. They look good on your Bronco too. I'm not worried about the ride, I'd imagine it's not going to be a real sweetheart in that department no matter what I put on it haha.
Well it runs! Unfortunately it looks like the starter I got is either the wrong one or it's not disengaging. When it starts there's some racket coming from there and when I turn the crank with a wrench I can hear the teeth on the flywheel just barely rubbing on it, luckily I didn't trash anything. Also, I put too much faith in the used rad - it leaks.
All of the stupid little bugs aside, I'm happy. Considering neither of the Broncos ran when they came home. And it fires right up too so it looks like I have the timing fairly close. I'll order a rad and a starter this week so I'll have it for Thursday when I'm back from school. HOPEFULLY next weekend we'll see it move
Congrat's! There are always the little startup problems, but you'll get them fixed.
Once I got looking into it, I must have a starter for an automatic trans. I bought it lightly used for 20 bucks but at the time I never realized there were two options. It seems my starter has a different nose cone and is rubbing on the ring gear. At least I caught it before it broke any teeth. I was under the assumption that they were the same starter - live and learn!

I get discouraged with things easily because I only have the weekends to work on it. But just looking back through the build thread it occurred to me that I haven't owned the truck even a year yet. I must be working a lot faster than I'd thought!
