Led High/Low Beam Position
So this thread is a little old, but I have a 2013 f250 6.7L and I recently purchase L.E.D headlight bulbs H13/9008, and it seems the light reflection/refraction is scattered all over the place. I was wondering if anyone has newer f250 body style, and can tell me if they have had success with led light bulbs, and most importantly, which way the low beam l.e.d chip faces and which way the high beam l.e.d. chip faces. Thanks

I believe the low beam should face up and high should face down because of the way it reflects. I got a cheap pair for my expedition and they were all out of wack and terrible. I got a pair form super bright leds and they are much better and dont blind people like my HIDs use to in my F250. I cant speak to the newer style headlights though since i have an 05-07 headlight.

For any LED bulbs that have one source for low and one for high that are on opposite sides, they would have to be oriented with the high on the bottom and low on the top. On bulbs with low on both sides and highs on both side, the LEDs should be to the sides, at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock.

I decided to test this today with my leds put them back in lows at the top highs at the bottom it was no bueno scattered and much worse pattern on low and highs still completely useless this I'm sure is due to the way the 05-07 lights reflectors direct the light. The low beam pattern was much better with the lights at 3 and 9 o clock they had an almost identical pattern to the halogen lights on low including cutoff if they weren't so bright I think they could have been decent and not blinded drivers in the other lane the high beams were still useless just too much light into the opposite lane on a 2 lane road which I'm on 90% of the time. Leds back out I like the idea of them but there still not one that is actually legal to use which wouldn't be a big of a deal if they worked and didn't blind other drivers I'm sure some of the newer ones are better especially the ones with highs and low offset chips on both sides to mimic the halogen filament position but I don't have access to those. I think the projector retrofits are the best solution for us and not blinding other drivers just not cheap.

Personally i would gladly spend the money to get good light output and not **** other people off.

Here's a link to one as an example.

I'm with you and not many kits can pull it. We did a full review with our lumen tester to show if it's a real improvement or not and how our kit stacks up.

I just bought some HELLA sealed beam retrofits and H4 LEDs from Amazon. They actually look pretty good. Good cut off. My truck driver neighbor sat in his car as I approached him last night with them on. He said there was very little glare and wasn't blinded. Haven't been brighted yet.

The only downfall is they don't project as far as HIDs, however they really light up the lane markers, which is what I wanted. They don't use reflective paint for markers in most of CT and they're hard to see at night and in the rain. The LEDs really light them up. Happy with them, but may buy some projectors, and convert to HID instead. We'll see how these hold up.

I have changed my halogen headlights in the past, scattered beam but nicely throw on the road. Bright white somewhat yellowish in there which it helps on visibility in rain or wet conditions.

I'm new to this forum, but I am doing this conversion and the research I found is a "Warning Canceller Capacitor" needs to be installed with LED light to stop the errant dash warnings.

And the other guys have the beamtech versions in their trucks

https://www.amazon.com/BEAMTECH-Head.../dp/B06XHCQ8KY

They have a good cutoff like the halogen bulbs as well as a functional high beam unlike a lot of options. There is no ballast they just plug right in. For the price these lights can’t be beat by anything else on the market today that I have been able to find.

Here is the thread in the 2017 forum discussing these lights if you want to read through it.

Thanks, bud. I already ordered mine. They weren’t as cheap as yours though 😡 They ARE a hi/lo from Headlight Depot, so hopefully they either have a good return policy or turn the night sky into day, Haha!
