They put the throttle plates in some of the later 04 engines that even had the updated fuel lines. I know as late as 04/04.....
Can't he tell 04 or 05 by checking the HPOP cover?

Sometimes the orientation of the GP module.
Didn't release that ridiculous throttle plate was used that late.

Supposedly they took it out of the strategy early on, but it still throws a code on mine cause it's gone. Probably one of those EGR things....

The way I read it from the 04 updated coffee table book is the EGR throttle plate was added in 04 and in this 05 running changes PDF https://www.ford-trucks.com/ford-man...ges-Update.pdf the 05' Excursion pre January 05' got the 04' MY engine with the throttle plate. I see after reading the 03.25 coffee table book that some 03's had the throttle plate too as it says "if equipped" so I stand corrected on the part highlighted in red

Need to keep that more in kind when guys with the earlier engines have weird symptoms... Could be that valve misbehaving.
