‘02 7.3 f550 no start - HELP!!!

2002 f550 7.3. Died while running. Now won’t start. I’ve replaced the ICP, IPR, CPS, HPOP, checked all the fuses, checked for run on harness over left valve cover, no codes thrown. It was running PTO at 1200 rpm, started sounding like an IDI motor. I saw it had a yellow engine light on and a “check gauges” light on. I pushed in clutch to disengage the pto and it died. Hasn’t started since. All fluid levels are good, including the oil in the HPOP reservoir and batteries seem to be ok voltage wise. I’m about to pull my hair out. Still not getting good pressure from HPOP but I don’t see any visible oil leaks. Never had any drips on my driveway either. When I turn the key to power, OBDII shows HPOP pressure already but at around 9-10 psi. Please help me. It’s my business truck and if it ain’t movin, I’m not makin money.
Thank you!!!!

Here's a link that can help with a no start Diagnosing no start. Do you have a scanner? Have you tried disconnecting your ICP sensor? If it goes bad it could cause this (sorry if it's redundant, I didn't read through the other thread)

Thanks for replying! Yes I have a obd2 hooked up with the torque pro app. I have unplugged the icp sensor. This was just a few minutes ago. I realize the HPOP pressure is very low but it’s a new pump and I don’t see any leaks. So I’m really confused. Also there is no fuel pressure readings but not sure if that’s an app issue. The pump does run (I can hear it) and if I drain the fuel from the fuel bowl it will fill back up. I’ve also disconnected the fuel bowl heater with no effect.

Fuel pressure cannot be read through the OBD port, must be an external sensor.

Where is the HPOP from? Is it a T500 by chance?

In order to verify or double check your TP readings, you could download Forscan and check them again. Forscan is free to run on a laptop.

I see a couple of things for starters...MAP and EBP should be close to each other, I'm thinking .5 max difference but not sure. Are you in Death Valley or something? You're showing a engine oil temp of 104. Actually, I think that your MAP should never be in the negatives. EBP should be at 14 or less depending on your altitude with KOEO. Is the HPOP reservoir full to within about 1-1 1/2" of the top?

Death valley.lol...good call. The negative MAP would be consistant with sea level. Mine sees them numbers idling, more so in mountains, idling..the fipw is decimals off but the epb is high..again, im green to this but just comparing what i see on mine...i no when crunning wvo then switchingvto d2, if i forgot to flip the d2 switch so that means no fuel at all being delivered, man did it sound horrible

did you pull the CEL code ? Also these trucks can have all sorts of issues if BOTH batteries aren't 100% healthy.

Thanks guys for the help! I’m in Indiana. Not sure how old the batteries are but I think they are at least a couple years old. It’s at a shop now. I’ll update when I hear what they find. Thanks again!

#1 Reman HPOPs have bad track record. #2 Shops have at least an equally bad track record and I'm shuddering at the thought of what they do.

Well I was asking all the questions before I took to the shop because I was working on it myself. But I don’t have the expertise to troubleshoot and repair myself and just keep pouring $$$/parts at it and see what sticks. So I ended up taking to shop today. I did everything I was possibly able to do. And the oil in the HPOP reservoir was full but, I wasn’t starting it long enough I don’t think. I was only cranking for 20 seconds at a time for only a couple times. I didn’t realize I needed to crank for quite a while. I was afraid of burning up the starter. So whatever the shop finds out, I’ll relay here and hopefully it will help someone else that was in my position. This forum is pretty badass I will say. I learned a lot just in a day or so. Thanks for all the advice.

Your limiting your ability, bud. None of us knew what the heck we were capable of when signing on to these 7.3s..fastforward, and were here tryn to save your hard earned cheeze. It never ends good coming from the mouths of dealers, unfortunately...if anything, post what they "think" and im sure somebody will respond asap if its go ahead because you think you cant perform the task, or and its mentioned alot, to get your truck outta there!...

Thanks man I appreciate it. Luckily (I hope) it’s not at a dealer. It’s a shop by my house that is supposed to be pretty good and they are small. Give me a semi trailer and I can tear it down to nuts and bolts and build it back up. But a diesel, I just have very little experience and confidence. But I’m stuck with it now so I gotta get better regardless. Lol!

Ok so to finish up this thread, I changed all the sensors and HPOP and checked all kinds of other stuff for a grand total of $1600 spent......to find out all I had to do was push a button. Pic included. So, if you happen to have a truck with a Chelsea PTO installed, you probably have this set up just inside ur passenger door. All I had to do was push that black relay reset button. Sheesh. Thanks for everyone’s help!!!!
