This is what I used to use in my older vehicles that didn't have a block heater, it mounts in the lower radiator hose and always worked real good. I'm not sure if you can use these on the newer vehicles though, I wouldn't know right off hand why you couldn't. Lower radiator hose heater - TheFind These in my opinion have always worked better than a block heater.

The ones I've seen actually pump the coolant around as well as heat it, that's why they are better, no circulation with the block heater. Block heater is certainly adequate most everywhere but we have both the block heater and coolant pumping heater on our 4020 john deere tractor with a snow blower on it. Gets -80 with windchill sometimes here in ND though, lol! Not sure if they would be the same for a pickup truck but I don't see why not.

Does anyone know of a heated oil pan or heated transmission pan for the 6.7 diesel? The block heater is okay but it gets very cold at night where I am. Would like to be able to pre heat both locations. I did instal a wolverine heater on the trans pan, but the pan is not totally flat, and the oil pan has a plastic bottom to it.

I don't know of any such product, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The lower oil pan on the early 6.7s is plastic, but the later trucks have steel pans. You can buy a steel replacement at your local dealer which would allow you to use a magnetic heater.

Great idea mad son ~~~ worth investigating if you lived in an area that needed that warmth !

just so my hands and my buns are warm - I'm good until the heater warms up... and the remote start on our platinum turns on the seat and steering wheel heat !!!!

BUT, we are in TexUS so below freezing is (hopefully) a rarity !

In my testing the oil temp was about 30-35 degrees F warmer when using the block heater. The air temp coming out of the vents was also around 30 degrees warmer. The detailed temps are in the rapid heat spreadsheet link in my sig. Skip down to row 112 for the values.
