Engine Block Heater

How bad is it to leave the truck plugged in all night? i usually plug it in if its below 40 because the batteries arent awesome and its an older truck.

The 84 trucks were susceptable to block cracking at the BH frost plug hole with use of the block heater. Use is not advised get the batteries changed cheaper than a new engine block.

You should not need a block heater until below 20*F. At -30*F I have found 3 hours of (HD timer) timed heater use is sufficient for fast starts, just set it to come on 3 hours before needing the truck to go to work/school.
