Is there some trick to the engine block heater? I mean, it's a simple plug. I've plugged mine in several times, to different sources, and nada. I can't imagine it's fused or anything like that. Do you need to plug it straight into Browns Ferry or something?
simple question is did you check to see if you had electricity at the outlet? Alot of times you will find a blown fuse or tripped breaker. Just something to check.
Sometimes you need a little clarification. I knew someone that believed if they plugged their block heater in, their truck would be warmed up when they got in and started it. When that didn't happen, he thought the block heater wasn't working.

Reason: Typo
Possible his expectations are plug me in and shazam it should be hot. not gonna happen.
1St dvom cord and see if have voltage.
2nd ck resistance on block heater element.
3 if still in doubt purchace a amp watt tester and you can see how many amps/watts its pullling. there very affordable.
Nada. Plug it in, the cord is heavy duty and live. Tried it in several outlets, didn't trip any of them but it did not heat up the element at all. The cord didn't even warm up.
I know it won't turn the cab into a sauna. I thought I read somewhere it would stay on for 2 hours or so and then turn itself off. But I've never been able to get it to heat in the first place.
DH44. Maybe your block heater element took a crap. You can ohm it if you have Dvom. Or buy a watt/ amp checker. Lowe's home depot etc. There cheap. Plug your cord into it and to outlet and you will no if its working. It will show you amps and watts its pulling.
I'm going off of a pi** poor memory here, but, doesn't the cord come separately from the dealer? If so, that would mean that it connects to the block heater via some sort of connector. Could it possibly have come loose or was never connected at the block heater end?
I would go look at mine but I'm too lazy and it's too cold to lay on the ground right now.
My block heater wouldn't work either, used a ohm meter to verify. Brought it to the dealer and they said that the connector was loose from the factory.
Was going to ask a stupid question but then I went and looked and found the plug in the bumper.
Decided to test mine but couldn't find my meter so a battery and LED sufficed to show me I had continuity across the plug. Good to go now when it gets real cold, has only been down to -15c so far.

The 6.7s do not come standard with a block heater. Only trucks that are bought in 11 states. Mine here in GA didn't have one. That's why there is an element and cord lying in my garage to put on mine when I have the time.
