Shop says I smoked the starter. Gotta fix that to find why it won't start. Just a quick $385 install. Plus the diagnostics fee. At least they are shooting me straight. I can't get a starter that cheap anywhere. Diag fee covers it until it's running.

You can get a GREAT reman starter from Napa for about $160 +/- that spins the motor over much faster than factory. I've been running one for several years with great success. Takes about 10 minutes to put in.
I was just wondering for next time. Truck is 30 minutes away at the shop. Not really worth the time to go to NAPA, get it, drive down there, ask them to install someone else's parts and hope they stand behind it. I will certainly remember that tho. Hope I never need to.
Shop tech got it running. Warmed it up while monitoring the HPO pressure. It dropped significantly. He air tested and heard large leak. So, it blew out whatever I was hearing the leak cause it wasn't loud when I tested. He is going into the rocker covers on Monday to find it. Fingers crossed!
Picked truck up tonight from shop...cannot believe it's the same truck! It runs great! Here's the skinny: injector had a broken nipple that connects it to the oil rail. Tech said could only happen with improper installation. Head gaskets were replaced two weeks after I purchased the truck. He said it must have happened at that point. I've never had the injectors exposed or the rail off. So it's been that way pretty much the entire time I've owned it. Wasn't until I went to 5W-40 full synthetic that it show'd itself. Man, what a ride home... WOW. Major props to DIS Injection services in Springdale, AR. Total was $1,488 for parts and labor. I bought a case of Stanadyne while I was there. $175.

Thank you for keeping us updated on this saga. I'm not in the same situation but I hate when people ask for help ad someone gives them advice and we never hear from them again!
I'm about to tear into my 6.0 for the first time for the infamous oil cooler r/r. Thank God for my Scangauge! Dash gauges were fat dumb and happy(looking) with all needles pointed squarely in the middle, while scan gauge was showing a 25 degree split during normal driving(saw a 65 degree split while towing which is what REALLY alarmed me)!
Figured while I'm in there all the other update/preventative mx will get done, too. And just to justify my time and effort it's getting the EGR tossed, SCT tuner, and straight pipe exhaust.
Wish me luck!!!!

I wanted to do everything I could afford all at the same time while truck was down and apart. Only negative is if you have issues after completing all those changes, it's a nightmare to diagnose. I still suggest doing it, but take your time and know your limitations.
I'm gonna buy an oil cooler as soon as cash allows to have handy when, not if it clogs. I never had more than an 8* delta while driving, but I wanna be prepared. I don't know your skill level, but none of the work I did was rocket science. Again, take your time, stay organized, try not to start and stop... You should be fine. There's a ton of info here and videos on YouTube that shows you how to do every step. Srmadtertech has made a bunch of quality how-to videos.
I completed the coolant flush procedure this weekend. Drained the antifreeze into a clear container and head zero contaminants in it. I pulled block plugs and had no contaminants sand or otherwise there either. I flushed it four times anyway with distilled water. Also back flushed the radiator and heater core. I used the thermostat removal process to save time. It worked very well. Replaced the thermostat and filled with concentrated red coolant from NAPA.
I tried to do the high idle mod, but it never worked.
I found the correct wires easily. Connected them together, and flipped the switch. I did have the park break set and In park and no foot on the break. Still never high idled. The light on my upfitter switch #4 does come on. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
