Didn't I tell you? Those are some hefty clamps. Loved mine and wish I knew what I did with them. Lol
Yes you did, I'll torque them to 50 in lbs and see what happens. If I still blow one or two I'll double clamp them. I bet yours are on Cody's truck , LOL Merry Christmas!
I think they might be on a friend of mines Cummins conversion. I've never torqued my clamps before, just took them down. Hope it works buddy! Merry Christmas.
Did the clamps come with that torque info? I'm just curious....afterall its what killed the cat.
i could see where that would be very important for maximum retention.
I put the clamps on today! They were supposed to be torqued to 50 in lbs but both my torque wrenches didn't go down that far. So, I guessed by tightening them down until the spring was about half depressed. I hope that's good. The two right on the IC itself, I could not get them in there because of the big spring. I never had a problem blowing those off so I just left the non spring clamps on there. I doubled clamped the IC pipe to the IC with two spring clamps on both sides. On the Y I had to move them in some weird postions to be able to wrench down the nut. All the rest were pretty straight forward. Went I got done I decided to double clamp the joint on the drivers side pipe, you can see in the picture. Hopefully, no more problems!
Its done, no leaks and I can put the fill nozzle on full blast, so my vent turned out OK. The only problem is the sending unit isn't right. I put nineteen gallons in and it shows almost full when it should show half? Still have to mount the spare and put the tail pipe back on.
I'm driving 300 mile round trip tomorrow for a free-bee! I'm on a forum for these satellite's just like the one I have and these people said who ever wants it, come and get it. I'll have to help him take it off his roof of his RV but that's fine. Lots of spare parts! The company went out of business because of cell phones but I still need (want) mine for the SD place because there isn't any cell phone reception there. I'll be able to see what the fuel gauge does and if it wants to stay on full for the first half of the tank then drop, I guess that will be OK. I sure don't want to drop the tank again.
Free is good Bill. He posted at mid night Christmas night and I think I'm the first one to jump on it in the morning. That forum is like this one, a bunch of experts who are always ready to help if you have problems with the satellite.
House stays home Aaron, LOL. I'll need the pickup for my tools and to haul it with. That thing is pretty big.
