Yeah, I'll be interested in seeing how that chip does. We have basically the same set up now, so I'd like to see how you like Tony's tunes.
21 days turn around, he must like you better, LOL Tony's tunes on the mule just poured black smoke, I'm real interested to see how they do on the mare. The mare has a much better system of air delivery to burn the fuel. The trouble is these tow mirrors I have trouble seeing if I'm blowing smoke. The mule I could see it much better.
I have heard some people say his tunes are a little smokey. Not too bad I hope. Gearhead is suppose to have real clean tunes, but I've heard Tony's have better power. This is all just stuff I have read and heard, so I guess we'll see.
Could you push your truck a little harder now with the exhaust leaks fixed? You should be down some on egt's after fixing your leaks. I know you said you can still push 1300 (I'm sure more if you really wanted to), but is it a little harder to get there?
Sounds like you got it quite a bit quieter though. I don't think you'll ever completely get rid of that turbo whistle inside.
Must have been a fairly successful trip though! What did the wife say about the noise level?

I could push the truck a lot harder. Taking off from a stop it was fun because I could get it up to speed a lot faster. It did take longer to get the EGT's up there, which is good. There really wasn't any big hills for a 'real' test and I actually had a tail wind. She is pleased with the noise level and said the work I did was worth it. She doesn't like the turbo whistle though.

haha, right ear is much better, thank you. I really don't know what the deal was with the trailer brakes? I just started cleaning the plug ins, the two in the cab, the one in the bed and the one under the bed. I also thought the fluid level (hydraulic over electric) in the camper was a tad low, so topped it off. When I removed the rear tank I moved the wires out of the way so I straighten them out. That's what fixed it, . Not really knowing what fixed it, I kept an eye on the controller. I hate Phoenix, always a traffic jam there and lots of time had to apply the brakes hard.
met up with glen yesterday... it was a disaster... i now want an s366 and stuff and i cant afford ...
anyway, it was a good deal quieter than my stock truck but did have that annoying turbo whistle. i suggested using hose clamps, a bit of double sided sticky tape, and a length of metal or lead and temporary atach it to different parts of the piping to see if tjere is a resonance issue.
If it were me and turbo whistle was a problem, I think I would go grab an intake tube off a stock common rail Cummins Dodge. They have a restrictive area built into the tube that quiets the turbo whistle.
No, I never got around to the foam backer rod or new seals. Where do you get the stuff? Also I was thinking about new door seals but didn't get around to that either. I have a boost fooler under the back seat from Dieselsite if I set that code.
Home Depot or any major building supply. Remove door seal being careful not to tear. Using fish tape push though Door seal tube, using electrician tape fasten on foam backer rod to fish tape and tape down rod for 6-8" for added strength. Using a lube like armour all to wet the b rod and pull into door seal tube. Cut to length reinstall. Enjoy the quiet.. Iirc I used 3/8" backer rod. You can use vinyl tubing too, but as I live in cold winter climate, foam backer rod works better. This mod goes hand in hand with cab sound deadening and only takes minute per door.
Put Tonys chip in and just driving in town it seems stronger and more smoke. I nailed it and scared the dog! LOL
Lol, the dog didn't pee on the seat did she?Yes, the restriction will limit air flow a little bit, but it will silence the intake noise too. It's a trade-off. I doubt it will limit flow enough that you will really notice it much in terms of boost or EGTs.
LOL!! Poor dog.....I can't wait to see how the TW tunes tow. So it does feel like you have more power though?
She will get over it, HAHA! Yes, so far it does feel like more power. There is so much traffic around here its hard to get on it. Towing with it will be interesting.

Cheers,

Thanks jrc, sounds simple enough. I will try it when I get home. Visiting with Richard, he thought that 1/4" surgical tubing would work good.

No, the seats are good and if she had, at least they aren't cloth seats, LOL I'm having a hard time envisioning the 'restriction' and I also wonder what year of Cummins. Travis, I'm sure, will be along to say. I'm happy that the truck is more quiet but it seems like the whistle is even more noticeable now and it is annoying!!
