Well the weather has put a damper on having the truck running by this evening . Seems like the darn rain won't never leave . Put a few more pics in the album . The tarp thing you see if you look at them done caved in so that ides fell threw and living in a rental don't let me do much

problem found

Been working on new motor getting it ready to put in truck and am close to being there . I have pics just haven't added to album . Pain ten the cross me member and frame today so while waiting I figured I pull the old motor apart the rest of the way . Pulled the oil pan off and tried to rotate the crank and it was obvious the crank cracked . Any idea why this would happen . I have a pic up in a lil while of it in my album.

By the looks of it everything looks good for a sweet rebuild . Had to take a break for dinner and family time . I'll get better pics tomorrow

EDIT- [I apologize, for some reason I thought you had a 6.9. This is good information anyway].

Here is one forum discussing the issue related to harmonic balancers and exterior influences on the crank.

This article says the 6.9 crank uses exterior mounted weights to balance the crank. If weights are used on a flywheel I would assume the bolt pattern is keyed in some way or you must replace the flywheel in the same position if you ever remove it. "....External balance weights in the flywheel and a vibration dampener were required to keep the overall engine size within that of a gasoline engine and to limit the scrap rate during manufacturing...."
