My Brake Pedal on cold Mornings ( Here in AZ around 40 degrees) is really hard and as the truck and day get warmer it gets softer, almost spongey at times. I'm not low on fluid. I was Wondering if any of You Guys have ever had this before. Thanks in advance. Mudguts.
Hard as in how it should be when cold or too hard to a point that you have to push REALLY hard to stop?
My guess if normal hard in the morning would be a brake line very close to or laying on exhaust. Heating and boiling the fluid in the line. Find the heat source fix it and do a fluid flush.
If too hard in the morning then put a vacuum gauge on it, my guess would be a weak vacuum pump.
Brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture.
If your brake fluid is dark it contains moisture. How much moisture? Moisture in the brake lines damages your system and when hot, boils off causing brake failure. I guess it could get slushy on vey cold days.
Additionally, the seal in your vac boost may be leaking when cold, I worked on one that whistled until the engine compartment got hot.
Also, vacuum may be low or hose fitting leaks may be greater when cold- also occurs when hot.
