I've been having issues with my truck for the past two months and with some great advice and help from the awesome people here have been able to solve most of the problems and keep the truck running .
I've also recently asked about parts and such and still have full intentions of getting them. One of them was a fuel pump which was bad along with filthy lines which definitely didn't help but had to have the truck to tow the dump trailer
Now to where I'm gonna need the help the most. Today on the way to work driving at 60 miles an hour I started losing power and the oil pressure gauge started flopping and then a loud knock all in about two mins. Had it towed home and took other truck to work . Got homeand turned it over a couple of times ,turns over good but there's a bad knock/ grinding sound . I know the motor is toast and needs a re build. Its a jasper reman and could have sleeves . If a sleeve happens to drop how bad is the damage.
Any recommendations on where to get parts from is appreciated . I plan on doing valves springs studs (raccin) cam(doing my homework)pump injectors basically a full rebuild and want to get as many parts as I can from members .
Needs diagnostic surgery to be sure, however to (drop a liner) would take time with out SCR's to bore a hole thru the liner. Knock sounds like maby a bearing, any coolant in the oil? oil in the coolant?
No coolant in the oil that's the first thing I did was pull the dipstick to make sure I didn't run it low on oil and there's minor oil still in the coolant from when my oil cooler was leaking into the coolant but can't rule that out cause I never got the coolant system completely clean
Somewhere on this forum is a picture of a rebuild that Dave S bought. Motor's still strapped on the pallet from receiving shipment, he took a picture upwards showing the sleeve dropping!! A rebuild with zero hours on it!
Seems not all rebuilders know to leave a lip on the bottom of the bore to assist in retaining the sleeve.
That's not good and the reason for me bringing up the sleeves is cause the grinding/ knock is coming from bottom end and only does it on a full rotation of motor
that is the main reason why i would only use a jasper anything as a boat anchor.
i have never seen anything that came from jasper last very long. they are a company you buy from to get it running to get rid of it.
Started taking motor apart and prepping to pull motor down . Haven't taken any thing off that will shed light onto what happened will start that tomorrow
One thing that jasper is also famous for....oil pumps...they use cheaper oil pumps that are not very reliable. if you want i have 2 of the factory ford oil pumps instead of the melling replacements.
The one in Chesapeake is a jasper reman no turbo but will work and give me time to get mine rebuilt without rushing it . The one in Yorktown needs work and yes not budging on price.
