What brand fuel you running? Mine does a bit better than that, providing it's not regening of course, running Shell super diesel. Run the best fuel you can buy, it will pay dividends by not regening as much (if your deleted, even better) and give you the biggest bang for the buck = better fuel economy.
But then again, it's a 8000 pound truck, one can't expect Toyota Corolla mileage...lol...
I don't think comparing it to a Toyota mileage wise is a very good comparision, but it would be nice to compare it to something that weighs the same.
Chev 4500 or Dodge same size?
Not trying to hijack, but just my .02
Wouldn't just about the cheapest quick fix be the taller tires thus raising the effective gear ratio and lowering the rpm. I tend to get better mileage if I keep it at 60-65 i.e. well under 2000 rpm. Oh and I do realize tires ain't cheap, just maybe a lil cheap-er.
I assume "Super Shell" is available only in Canada. I spend way too much time in So Texas and buy a lot of Stripes branded 20% bio-diesel. I used to gripe about my mileage as well @ 10-13mpg. Part of the problem is a 74 mile stretch at 85 mph and....you know, I just can't help myself
The rest of the time a 15-20 min daily commute keeps it around 9-11mpg. Weekend trip home tends to be about 800 mi round trip. Lot's of dead dinosaurs out the tailpipe.

Yup going to try the tire deal when I buy new tires in the spring.
I just bought $1500 worth of studded tires that I have to use for a few months.
Priced out a regen delete and tuner , was quoted $2000 for everything.
Its a H+S tuner anyone heard of them?
I found them on Ebay and they are $1600 bucks so I don't know how my guys going to make any money?
Rumor has it that some folks are buying the old tuners from people about to trade their truck in and /or need cash now and willing to sell for a little less.
H&S is supposed to be one of the best. I want one for my 08 F350 when I get a few other things out of the way.
I also am on the fence about what route to go to delete this unwanted fuel sucking smoke making garbage.
I see that there is a "kit" which includes CAI, EGR deletes, DPF delete, and tuner for $1474 on ebay--eBay item number:171177748032
Or, maybe to just get started with the main one being the DPF delete pipe for only a couple hundred bucks and a tuner to make it work, leaving the CAI and EGR for later down the road... My question is to those that know, which tuner, budget minded?
I just drove my 08 F350 KR CC LB 4x4 from Arizona to Wisconsin at average of 75-80mph, got average of 13-13.5 calculated, Lie-o-meter said 14-15mpg. Never regen'd once on that trip, BUT has done it once a day since I have been running around at home here, some of them are real smokey and I am thinking it is time to make that problem go away...
A lot of us have the H&S min max I love mine I did the work myself and I suck at turning wrenches my truck was not doing well before but boy she could take off like a raped ape. Put my tuner in and DPF off and holly cow what a difference I still don't understand all the fancy crap my tuner can do but I leave it on tow and man shes a beast. I am not good at math so much but I go to the same camping spot a lot before tune I needed to refuel soon as I got to town now I could almost make it back home.
"33.4178 gallons to go 320 miles which is 9.57573 miles per gallon"
Well, just by being on the forum, he has almost doubled his mileage....
I am just about to hit 160000 on my '09--tuner/dpf-doc delete at 98000. Later, had the entire exhaust changed to 4" with an MBRP muffler. No more regens is almost priceless--no more checking for oil dilution. Have not seen any great mileage gains, tho.
Vinford--if you get the tuner and delete, be sure and keep the parts they take off. You may need them down the road if you sell it.
