I also believe this constitutes to the smell. I smell older diesel engines and compared to a 6.0l. There is difference, which I am thinking is because of the injection pressure. This is just a guess though, I have no data to back this up.

You are correct sir. The intensifier piston is pushed down by HPO at a 7x ratio, so you may see up to 28K psi fuel pressure from the injector IF your HPOP is capable of outputting 4K psi of oil.

Is Archoil worth it in a 6.7? That is an extra $ 42.00 At each oil change which is expensive enough and I do my own filters an oil changes. Will it prolong the life of the Turbo? Thank You, Jim

I don't think you need it each and every time. Could go
to to every other or every third oil change maybe?

But your right every change is a bit $$ plus your not
feeding a HPOP system like with the 6.0 and that means
you not beating the oil like the 6.0 does. Well beating is
not a good choice of a word. What is going on is the oil is
shearing more in the 6.0 do to the work it has to do.

You do know that the 6.7 has ceramic bearings in the turbo,I think Archoil would be a good insurance for 42.00 verses 17,000 if the turbo lets loose.

I add the Archoil about 500 miles ago when I did a oil/filter change, along with changing the fuel filters. I also started adding the Motorcraft Cetane Performance & Boost. After less than 100 miles after adding the archoil & cetane it made a huge difference in my truck. It's much more quiet during cold starts and runs much smoother. Before, I was noticing and very slight quiver/sputter around 40-55mph at times, now it runs perfect!! Maybe the new fuel filters help some but before using the archoil I called my local Ford dealership diesel mechanic, which is a buddy and he said to always run the archoil and cetane, it's cheap insurance for the injectors!!

Don't forget that when you do change the oil there is always
a few quarts hanging around in the system. You can't get that
out unless you pull the oil cooler and the oil rails and drain them.

Hi everyone, just added the full 16oz bottle of Archoil to an otherwise top reading dip stick gauge. No measurable difference.

I have been using the Archoil oil and fuel treatments for over two years now. I was experiencing sever cold starts, etc. The next day ran like it was new, haven't looked back sense. I have always ordered directly from their website. Nice folks, never had any issues. Get some!

Welcome to FTE.

Your dipstick is graduated at 2 quarts between FULL and ADD. So 16oz of additive would not show easily on the stick. Nothing to worry about.

Ok I have what I would imagine is a very stupid question sorry. Archoil is something that you need to add to every time you change your oil and every time you fill up correct? Or is it something you can run every other or third oil change and every 3rd - 4th tank of fuel to "treat" the system?

The reason I ask is because I'm used to gassers up until now. Maybe every 3-4 months I would add some lucas or other fuel injector cleaner to the fuel.

Maybe the fuel treatment, if you use fuel treatment, but I don't think the oil additive is necessary every oil change unless you are still experiencing stiction, in which case you probably need a new injector. I wouldn't put it in the second oil change unless the stiction came back.

I thought injectors get lubed from the fuel.....

The quietness your hearing might be your lifters which do get lubed by oil....

They get it from both sides.

Here are three cross sections and you can see where the oil and fule goes in each.
Both sides need some lubrication.

Merry Christmas
