Some metal work to reshape firewall. PO installed some aluminum in the firewall to clear the old 390.

Added some square tubing to finish the front crossmember the PO had hacked up to clear the forward mounted alcohol burning straight six drag motor.
I squared the crossmember off and welded in the 3"x3" tubing. Just .063 wall. I also welded in boxing plates at the ends where it meets the frame.

Spent many hours repairing the radiator and fender mount horseshoe. The PO had also hacked that to install a taller radiator. In short the u shape support steel which wraps the horseshoe was cut out at the bottom. I added 1/8" bar stock to cap the top and bottom to add the strength back. I also added mounts for the radiator and condenser which include thick rubber vibration dampeners. Originally they were hard mounted.
Will share some pictures after I take some.

Extended the heat shield to shield the drivers side motor mount. The manifolds are ceramic coated inside and out so I think with the shields will see dramatic reduction in engine bay temps as well as isolate the motor mounts and steering linkages from heat.

Another shot of the frame, now painted.

Next step build a wiring cover for the drivers footwell which will also mount the drive by wire gas pedal. After, welding the mounts for the cover I will complete painting of the firewall. And then reinstall the engine trans package.

Excited to be putting things back together!

Added boxing plate to the motor mounts before painting the front chassis.
This is the best picture I have of the new boxed motor mount. Apologies.

A bit out of order, but this is the square tube welded in to cap the hacked front crossmember.
