Brake cable help

Does anyone know what the correct part no.'s are for all 3 brake cables on a 1965 F100 4x4? Are there any places you can still get these? Thanks!

The original front & rear cables were replaced by different cables, see parts catalog apps.

No one has the original rear cables, so you'll have to use the replacements.

2) C1PZ-2A753-A (replaced C3TZ-2A635-C) .. Replacement R/L Rear Cables / Obsolete

MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS in Binghamton NY has ONE = 607-722-5371.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has ONE = 800-476-9653.

NOS PARTS LTD in Waxahachie TX has ONE = 972-937-2201.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) C1PZ-2853-A .. Replacement Front Cable / Obsolete

CARPENTER has FOUR.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has ELEVEN = 800-543-4979.

well not sure, i looked up the 2a753 number that supercedes and it is for the 1966 bronco. problem is it says that it is 60" overall. In the ford parts list above it shows the original at 64 3/8" which is what mine is. I will continue working on this. Thanks all for the help!

thanks, it looks like I might have to go that route. The prior owner must have not needed the park brake, because there was only one broken rear cable left. they also pulled the lever and spreader bar out of both rear drums. i have alot of parts to find if i want a working park brake. it is a 4 speed manual so i would like to have one!

You can lead a mule to water, but you cannot make it drink!

The 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog page I posted clearly states that the C1PZ-2A753-A cables replaced the original 64 3/8" C3TZ-2A635-C cables.

Because the replacements are shorter, the front cable also has to be replaced.

C1PZ-2A753-A also replaced the cables used on 1964 F100 2WD, 1964/66 F250 2WD & 4WD and 1966/73 Bronco: right rear only.

1966/72 & 1973/79 Bronco parts are listed in the 1965/72 & 1973/79 Ford car parts catalogs.

Ok, Thanks for the clarification. I guess they know that the shorter cable will work, as long as you replace the front cable also. The cable must go from the drum assembly to the parking brake cable bracket, I just wasn't sure that the bracket could adjust 4" to accommodate the shorter cables. Thanks!

All three cables are adjusted at the same location.

2853 front cable attaches to 2A605 lever. 2628 threaded adjustment rod attaches to lever and to 2A605 equalizer, where it is double nutted in place.

Both rear cables attach to 2A605 equalizer.
