So I'm still chasing a power loss I can't find. I'm making 33 psi boost egts seem to be in check. No codes. I thought maybe it was a fuel issue so I did the hutch and harpoon mod and added a fuel pressure gauge, I'm at 72 at idle and drops to 58 at wot. I don't believe it is an air issue because I'm making thy kind of boost. Everything seems to be there to make the power I should be but for some reason or doesn't.
I have noticed lately that the truck rolls a lot more black smoke than it normally would in my 80e tune so much so that I stopped running it in that tune in favor of the 60e which still seems to smoke a lot more than I like. For instance driving down the road at 60 mph with cruise set on flat road I came up on a rail road bridge that I had to go under (30' drop 30' rise) the truck kicked out of over drive down to 3rd rolled some serious coal just to make it back up this stupid little hill. A dip in the road like the that one should never cause a truck let alone a 7.3 to have to drop out of lock up.
Any good ideas? I've been trying to figure this out for over a year now.
Ask any and all questions
I looked in your sig what are you running for a regulated return for the fuel pressure to be that high at idle? frx?
Why it's that high I have no idea. It could be due to a faulty gauge. My fuel pressure gauge went nuts on me a couple weeks after I installed it. Ill be sending it back under warrantee later this week. Other than the in tank mods the the fuel system is bone stock. I opened a thread on my fuel pressure shortly after observing it for a little while and the end result was that there is no issue with running that pressure.
I've pretty much exhausted everything that I could come up with that might explain the loss of power. It's been a slow loss over time... Lots of time
Oil pressure stays the same or at least close enough the gauge moving doesn't catch my eyes and LPO is the middle gauge in my pillar so it's in my face.
Tugly, which part are you talking about? Post #? My phone is jumping and skipping to random pages every time I click on your link.
Here's my suggestion, pull the chip and see how the truck runs. You might have a bad connection with the pcm, maybe it wiggled a little loose over time....
Ik when my truck was stock (without chip) it wouldn't pop out of lockup for a hill like you described
