I'm not sure exactly what to call it. It only happens in first, after I've come to a complete stop. I'll hit the gas and the truck will start moving forward, then there is a noticeable bump like something is engaging hard or something. If I ease on the gas, the truck still does this, although not as roughly. The truck doesn't roll back when I let off the brake and doesn't have any issues shifting through the gears.
Has anyone else had this before? Could it possibly be something in the differential? Nothing came up in my search on the forum.
I have a 2000 V10 with the 4R100 Transmission, stock, no tunes, 2wd.
I'll also note that I do need to do a transmission fluid change soon, I just haven't had the time to do it. But the fluid levels are good.
Yes, it's been seen before. It is the driveshaft slip joint. It's dry and needs to be lubed. Ford sells a special grease for this, it will last longer than a standard grease. Search "slip joint" and you should find a lot about this.

I agree with Mark, this takes about 10 minutes to do and will most likely solve your clunk.

If it needs to be done then you shouldn't put it off any longer. Your truck had lots of miles on it, and a flush using Mark's procedure doesn't take any longer than an oil change.
