Yes, that is exactly what is happening - the "P" indicator is remaining white and keeping dash lights on. I just wanted to confirm that the replacement wiring is the exact same and easy to recognize what needs to be replaced; it is good to know that the switch is an exact replacement. I should be receiving wiring today and plan to open up console first thing in the morning. I appreciate the insight.

I have been having trouble with my 2011 F-150 dash lights staying on and draining my battery. My mechanic suggested replacing the entire shifter, though I would prefer a cheaper fix if possible. I saw that you had a comment back in January regarding a Digikey switch # SW721-ND, which I have just ordered. Is this the exact part Ford uses and will it be easy to simply eyeball which wires to cut and tie in new part or is it a bit more complicated? Did you troubleshoot and fix this problem yourself or is there any kind of instructions/photos somewhere I could reference? Any additional help would be greatly appreciated.

Took it to the dealership, they fixed it under warranty with an entire new rear end. They said Ford has a design flaw they are trying to get a service bulletin out about it.
