How much fluid does my 93 Bronco take, thought I saw about 3 qts somewhere? Also, when pulling out I here and feel acouple of thuds or clunks. Also, feel it when coming to a stop.Could this be that the slip joint would need greased. Not sure if it was ever done since there is no grease fitting.thanks
For the second question, Yes, you are correct, the Klunk may be due to a dry slip joint. It is best to drop either end and pull the slip joint apart to grease it good. Be sure to mark everything so the balance will stay good. I kept breaking wrenches and just cleaned and greased it as good as I cood then used a grease needle in the splines then slapped more grease in. Cable tie replaced the boot band. Klunk has been gone at least a year now.
BTW, before I found this web site I took it to a shop to fix A/C and diagnose the Klunk. A/C was fixed but I left them scratching on the Klunk. This community fixed it with just one question.
Thanks-What should I use to reseal the pumpkin.I may redue mine.I replaced the fluid in December and used a gasket and sealant and just noticed fluid seepage around the bolt holes.I checked the fluid and had to add a quart to fill it.I never saw any on the garage floor at all.I had added 3 quarts when I changed it last December and find it hard to believe it seeped out that much.
I used RTV only and let it sit about 15 about minutes before assy per instructions. I think Haynes shows a pattern to follow for the bead. I also let it sit overnight after assy before the lube.
