Boy I wish I would have known, I would have made the trip.
I used to go to Cajon Pass on the week ends and on any time I had time off from my work to watch the trains it used to be real easy to get up to the summit but the last time I went up there with "She Who Must be Obeyed" they had the road chained off.
What would really be cool is if we could find out when it's leaving the Colton yard and heading through Cajon Pass on it's way to Cheyenne...that would be something to see.

I'd bet that info will become available in the rail-fanning community as the time gets closer.

Yes that would be great, I would make the trip to Cajon Pass for that!!

I agree. That would be one heck of a sight up on the pass.
I looks like it might be a while though. Here's a note from the UP website that indicates it might be months before starting the trip.
"Final travel preparations will be made in Colton over the next few months before No. 4014 departs for Cheyenne. The public is invited to view Big Boy No. 4014 in Colton yard on February 1-2, and 8-9, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All visitors should access the rail yard at 19100 Slover Ave., Bloomington, Calif. Visitors will be permitted in the display area for No. 4014 only. There will be no other rail yard access."
Have been meaning to do this for quite some time, and finally did. The two roads that are north and south of the Biola UP yard, do not have anywhere to park, so I decided to use my electric wheelchair and go up the bridge and take some photos. Nothing spectacular, but this is looking south into the yard from the Ashlan street bridge.
There is a bridge south of the yard that I can try and get photos from, however, it too has no place to park, and I can't fit the wheelchair into either of my trucks. So I don't know how I would get there, as I almost ran the battery dry just getting to the north end, and had to take the bus home for fear of running out of juice.
Be careful, Jim. I have heard stories of other people who have stood on a public bridge over a yard to take photos get charged with trespassing by the railroad, even though they were not on railroad property.
