There was no such thing as color TVs, let alone calculators and Safeways (grocery stores) had self serve tube testers (and replacements), back in the day. But it's feelin' old is what's gettin' to me....
Wow, you must have lived in the big city. A tube tester at Safeway? We had to go to the drug store 2 towns over.
I have a dashboss and was looking to see if there is info / list on numbers / values I should monitor with it???
Values like ....battery voltage =13+, FICM voltage =45+, etc.

That makes no sense considering the SG can only display 4 PIDs at a time and to bring up another requires scrolling through several until another is found.
DB and Torque show 12+ one on screen and others are just a swipe away.
Or just start the App and hit record and no need to even look at the screen.

The SG2 is invisible up above the rear view mirror, and I never have to worry about it being left out. I'd love to have the dashboss, but I really don't feel the need. I can see the advantage of it - heck I trialed the ultragauge (google it) and it didn't work for my 6L back 3 years ago.
I got an update they had fixed it and asked me to try it again, but I'm happy with what I have now.
Honestly, when I start the Ex I monitor FICM and ICP values. It's really helped when my FICM was acting up - but once I am happy with it again, I'll probably leave tham at: EOT, ECT, FMP, ICP.
While it's idling waiting for me to pull out of my driveway, I switch the ICP values to ECT/EOT and don't need to watch most of the rest.
I have the BulletProof Oil & EGR coolers, so don't really need to monitor those temps either, but I like to know when it's fully warmed up so I keep them on display.
I'll watch BST or TFT periodically when I have the urge. Otherwise, unless I have a problem or am curious most of the rest I seldom use.
On long trips, MPG/MPH are fun to watch too.
I have fuel pressure and volts on an analog gauge.
I agree, having more of them available would be a great advantage. I've just found after 3 years once you know how things behave, you just watch them once in a while to detect anything that's changing - or to monitor for a problem..
I would not be surprised to see a SG3 out someday with a fancier display...
I prefer dedicated gauges, they serve a purpose and work well.
The cost of the OBDII interface to use an Dashboss "app" is more than the cost of a ScanGaugeII. Plus one doesn't have to buy into a $700 per year provider fee to use a set of gauges and/or ScanGaugeII.
If I was to choose a dongle/ "app" it would have to interface with my large navigation screen having no cellular subscripton commitment.

See there you go, everyone has there own preference. Just to clear one thing up though: you don't need any contract for either Torque or DB to work. You could say run the apps on their appropriate tablet device. You just need to be able to load the app to the device and connect to an ODBII interface... Ditto with a non-contract phone, you don't have to use it as a phone, or buy minutes as you go if you want...

If you have an iPhone, iPad, or itouch then Dashboss is the way to go.
If you have a Droid phone or tablet then Torque is the way to go.
If you still have a flip phone from 1997 then ScanGauge is the way to.
If you use carrier pigeons and like nostalgia then a rack of analog gauges is the way to go.
Notice out of those 3 choices Torque is the cheapest. DB and SG are very similar in price and the most expensive would be analog gauges.
I didn't include the other choices like CT and whatnot but they are even more expensive.
Not only do I like the nostalgia but also the size of real gauges. They're very easy on they eye with just a glance while driving as opposed to a 1/2" square icon on a cell phone. The same holds true with a SG2.
I'll wait until someone can come up with a way to introduce larger PID displays on a display such as on the Navigation screen.
Until then; Squab anyone?

DashBoss can output to any LCD screen, including in-dash stereo displays.
I myself actually have analog gauges and use Torque as well. The analog gauges monitor the super important stuff (EGT, low pressure fuel, and boost) and Torque gets the rest. I honestly like a small touch of analog gauges as I like the needle sweep for certain read-outs.
I'm ordering a set of analog gauges to supliment my Scangauge, and want to get a fuel pressure gauge, since I don't believe that function is available through the OBDII port.
Question is, what pressure range do I need for the 6.0 ?
