How many teeth does your nylon speedo DRIVEN (end of cable) gear have now?
Mine has 19 teeth but doesn't work at all? Doesn't fit well over the male end of the cable closest to tranny either. There is a small green seal that seems to be too large for the nylon drive gear. Also slightly short as I REALLY have to push on it to get the retainer in place. Mine is solid white and wondering if the white with pink tip is what I am supposed to be running or if my problem is deeper within the tranny itself where the nylon gear is inserted? Thanks
I'm sorta in the same boat as Mark. According to the vehicle numbers, I should have a 3.50 Rear End. But when I am driving 40MPH, I'm right alongside the wife who is going 55MPH. I also have the standard 235/75/15 tires.
My friend says he thinks somebody swapped the Rear End. There can't be that many of these gears to choose from. Do I need more teeth or less teeth on my speedo gear?

By chance is the tag still on your rear end? It will have the ratio on it.

The one you were trying is right hand helix,correct?
Block the front wheels. Put the trans in neutral. Jack up one rear wheel. Crawl under, mark the driveshaft, have wifey turn the real wheel exactly one turn, count exactly the number of times to the fraction that the driveshaft turns. That is your rear-end ratio.
I don't know about posis but the above method will work if you have a simple rear-end.
If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, with an open differential, if you only jack up one wheel, you have to either multiply or divide the number that you come up with by 2. I don't remember which it is right now, but it should be obvious which way you have to go when you get a number. This is due to the way the spider gears work when one wheel is stopped and one is turning.
