How many teeth does your nylon speedo DRIVEN (end of cable) gear have now?
Mine has 19 teeth but doesn't work at all? Doesn't fit well over the male end of the cable closest to tranny either. There is a small green seal that seems to be too large for the nylon drive gear. Also slightly short as I REALLY have to push on it to get the retainer in place. Mine is solid white and wondering if the white with pink tip is what I am supposed to be running or if my problem is deeper within the tranny itself where the nylon gear is inserted? Thanks

You sure you counted the teeth correctly? There are two white DRIVEN gears. One has 17T the other has 18T

Here are the 3 different 19T DRIVEN gears, but if your truck is a 1967 F100 w/a NP 435 & 3.25-1, it does not use a 19T gear.

Could be a 16T or 17T DRIVEN gear (depends on tire size) w/a 7T DRIVE gear, located on output shaft.

CODZ-17271-B (replaced CODD-17271-C) .. 19T Speedometer DRIVEN Gear Pink / Type 3a

C4DZ-17271-A .. 19T Speedometer DRIVEN Gear Pink-end only / Type 3a

C7VY-17271-A .. 19T Speedometer DRIVEN Gear Tan / Type 3

My friend says he thinks somebody swapped the Rear End. There can't be that many of these gears to choose from. Do I need more teeth or less teeth on my speedo gear?

Thanks,
Bob
By chance is the tag still on your rear end? It will have the ratio on it.

Block the front wheels. Put the trans in neutral. Jack up one rear wheel. Crawl under, mark the driveshaft, have wifey turn the real wheel exactly one turn, count exactly the number of times to the fraction that the driveshaft turns. That is your rear-end ratio.
I don't know about posis but the above method will work if you have a simple rear-end.

If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, with an open differential, if you only jack up one wheel, you have to either multiply or divide the number that you come up with by 2. I don't remember which it is right now, but it should be obvious which way you have to go when you get a number. This is due to the way the spider gears work when one wheel is stopped and one is turning.
