Just how "small" will the notch be? Me and my brother bought a '71 highboy that someone had the shorty's in. The notch was through most of the lip. There might have been an inch left.

I'm not planning on carrying 9,000 lbs with it, either.

On the other hand I know of a 1966 that has run shortys since it was about a year old and it's worked hard. 448,000 miles on it last I checked with the owner. Same notch that he runs.

I just got to thinking that our motors sit lower in the frame than the latter highboys. That might help some too.

My Dad just sold his 1976 with 428 and shortys and that was a larger notch than I'm thinking on the friends 1966.
