Cast Iron Headers?

I am new to this forum but I have a question as to the value of a set of oem cast iron headers for the fe 390, 427 etc.

I have a set in very good condition. I have seen a set on upay for $800. Is this a reasonable price?

reasonable? NIMO, but people seem to pay it and something is only worth as much as someone will pay to own it.

What makes them desirable is that the only ones available are the original factory ones, and they were installed on some awesome motors.

They were all designed to be used on cars too. Darn shame there are no great flowing shorties available today for trucks. IMHO

Ron are these the shorty cast headers? If so....

$600 is about the going rate these days. They used to go $800+ and they still might if they are nice enough and 2 people want them bad enough. The 63-64 and 65 longer cast headers are $800 and up. So it really depends on what you have.

These are the long ones. I checked them over a little more closly and they do appear to be in good shape. One ear has been broken but it has been welded back in place. You can't tell if you don't look inside the tube. There is a stud bolt stuck in one of the collector outlets but with a little work I think it can be removed. I have had these for 30 years. I had a
'64 galaxy fastback w/390 that I raced in my younger days. I pulled them off when I sold the car and I just rediscovered them when going through some old parts.

Ron the long ones are closer to $1000 in real good shape. I think $800 is fair as described for what you have. 9 times outta 10 when I sold on ebay things went over the reserve anyway. Nice find.

I run a set of very nice originals on my '64 Galaxie. I've seen them $600 and up. Depends on how bad someone else wants them.
